Gabriele Koch

Gabriele Koch is interested in the vessel as an abstract sculptural object. She concentrates on simple forms which sometimes emphasize the relationship between internal and external space, or the movement or stillness within the form.

All pieces are hand built and burnished to achieve a tactile sensual surface. Some recent pieces have incorporated texture thus creating a contrast between rough and burnished surface areas. The distinctive patterning which complements the form is achieved in a carefully organized secondary smoke firing.
